New details confirm that Spider-Man: Brand New Day's $355 million domestic opening was matched by a $572 million haul from 66 international markets, giving it a $927 million worldwide debut — the second-biggest global opening ever, behind only Avengers: Endgame's $1.2 billion in 2019. The result also pushed Tom Holland's previous outing, Spider-Man: No Way Home ($260.1 million domestic, $587.2 million worldwide in 2021), down to third place on the all-time domestic opening chart, underlining how far Sony's latest instalment has outperformed expectations.

Sony had initially projected a far more modest $195 million domestic and $465 million global start, meaning the actual result nearly doubled forecasts and delivered the studio's best opening ever. Sony chief Tom Rothman credited the film's quality and the five-year gap since the last solo Spider-Man release, telling The Hollywood Reporter that "scarcity has value" and that audiences remain deeply connected to the character. The film, produced by Marvel Studios and Amy Pascal and starring Holland and Zendaya, still trails Endgame's all-time domestic record of $357.1 million, though Sunday takings could yet narrow the gap.

  • Brand New Day's worldwide debut hit $927M, second-biggest global opening ever.
  • It knocked No Way Home to third on the all-time domestic opening list.
  • Sony's initial forecast was nearly half of what the film actually earned.
