Andrew Guest, showrunner of Disney Plus' Wonder Man, has confirmed in a TikTok video that the series was cancelled after a second season had already been announced and preparations were well under way. He was keen to stress that the decision had nothing to do with scheduling clashes among the cast and crew, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton, but was instead an internal call made jointly by Disney and Marvel Studios.

Guest said contracts had been signed, schedules cleared, and the writers' room was due to start work that week, with production planned for early next year, only for Disney and Marvel to decide internally that the show no longer made sense. He revealed he had already written a draft of the first episode of season two, though the plot remains unknown, and is now urging Emmy voters to recognise star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's performance. Disney has not commented publicly on the cancellation, and the only live-action Marvel series still set for Disney Plus are VisionQuest, arriving in October, and Daredevil: Born Again's third season, as the studio's focus shifts back to films.
