Former X Factor finalist denies murder and GBH

BBC Entertainment · 4 hours ago

Former X Factor finalist Gabrielle Carrington has denied murdering social media influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska by running her over with a car in Soho, central London. Carrington, 29, from Manchester, appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Bronzefield prison, having initially been charged with attempted murder before the charge was upgraded to murder after Zakrzewska died six days after the incident. Carrington also denied a second charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to security guard Anoush Chyche.

The alleged incident happened outside Inca nightclub in Argyll Street at 04:30 BST on 19 April, after Carrington reportedly had a row with a man before getting back into her car, mounting the pavement and striking Zakrzewska, then Chyche, before reversing. Zakrzewska, in her 30s, had over 270,000 Instagram followers as "Klaudiaglam"; Carrington, who has 365,000 followers as "RIELLEUK", found fame in 2013 as part of X Factor group Miss Dynamix. She was not asked to plead to a third charge of driving with excess alcohol, and Judge Sarah Whitehouse KC set a trial date of 5 January at the same court.
