BLK Prime is developing a new documentary series about Joe Jackson, the late patriarch and manager of the Jackson family music dynasty, with his son Marlon Jackson helping to narrate and develop the project. Titled "The Manager, The Mythology, The Legend," the eight-episode series aims to give an intimate, family-endorsed portrait of the man who steered the Jackson 5 from Gary, Indiana, to global fame, arriving amid renewed public interest in his legacy following the release of the Michael Jackson biopic "Michael".

The series will examine Joe Jackson's early life, ambition and personal struggles, as well as the Jackson 5's relationship with Motown and the pressures of the family's rapid rise to stardom. Marlon said in a statement that the show would offer "a distinctive and accurate portrayal" of their father, though the project also comes against the backdrop of long-standing allegations of physical and emotional abuse made by several family members, which Joe Jackson had denied while acknowledging strict discipline. No premiere date has yet been set, with BLK Prime saying further details on production and casting will follow in the coming months.
