A new documentary about Joe Jackson, the late father and manager of the Jackson 5, is being developed with his son Marlon and will stream on BLK Prime. Titled "The Manager. The Mythology. The Legend.", the series aims to offer a fuller portrait of the man who shaped the family's musical legacy, arriving as renewed scrutiny falls on his legacy following the recent Michael biopic.

The biopic depicted Joe as a domineering, hair-trigger father who used physical punishment to drive his sons towards stardom, echoing long-standing accusations from Michael Jackson of childhood abuse. Marlon has said the new series will present a "distinctive and accurate portrayal" of their father, offering fans an intimate look at triumphs and challenges alike. No release date has been set. Joe Jackson died in June 2018 aged 89, and Janet Jackson has previously credited his drive and strength for the family's global success.
