“It shows off the rockier side of our collaboration.” Hackett & Rothery up the tempo on new single, Red Dragon

Prog rock guitarists Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery have released a second single, "Red Dragon," ahead of their forthcoming collaborative album, The Roaring Waves. The track showcases a heavier, rockier sound than their previous work together and points to the nautical and historical themes running through the record.

The song opens with a hurdy gurdy, a medieval European instrument, before moving into a heavy guitar riff from Rothery alongside melodic sitar guitar work from Hackett. Rothery explained the track highlights the "rockier side" of their partnership, while Hackett revealed the title references the Red Dragon, a ship used by the East India Trading Company in its early years. The Roaring Waves is set for release via InsideOut Music on 28 August.
