Frank Zappa's estate will reissue the Mothers of Invention's 1966 debut album Freak Out! for its 60th anniversary, with the deluxe edition due out on 25 September via Zappa Records/UMe. The release will include a long-unavailable full-album mono mix alongside previously unreleased live recordings, marking a significant archival milestone for an album widely regarded as a foundational influence on rock's "concept album" era, with Paul McCartney having credited it as an inspiration for the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's.

The Super Deluxe edition spans 5CD/1Blu-ray and presents Freak Out! in three formats: a newly remastered stereo mix, a pre-master mix drawn from unearthed 1966 tapes, and the rediscovered mono mix. It also includes two further discs featuring live performances from the Mothers of Invention's 1966 Fillmore West shows, plus rehearsal tapes, demos and outtakes. The reissue is available to preorder now in several formats, including a 5LP version and a 2LP multi-coloured vinyl edition, with the super deluxe sets featuring a litho print and a 26-page booklet of rare photographs and new liner notes.
