Hugh Jackman's cosy detective comedy "The Sheep Detectives" has become a surprise streaming hit on Prime Video, currently ranking among the ten most-watched films in the US three months after its cinema release. The film's staying power stands out in what has been a blockbuster year for cinema, sitting alongside far bigger box-office draws such as Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" and Marvel's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day".

Based on Leonie Swann's bestselling novel "Three Bags Full", the film follows a flock of sheep investigating their shepherd's murder, with a screenplay by "The Last of Us" co-creator Craig Mazin and direction from Kyle Balda. It earned $131 million (about £103 million) at the global box office, a modest total that nonetheless exceeded many industry expectations, and has continued to win over both critics and audiences well beyond its theatrical run.
