Delta Goodrem, Simple Minds Belt Out Classics at 2026 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony
Delta Goodrem and Simple Minds headlined the closing ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on 2 August, capping an 11-day multi-sport event with performances celebrating both the host city and Australia's dominant showing. Goodrem, an Australian pop star, welcomed athletes into The OVO Hydro with a medley of hits before Glasgow rockers Simple Minds brought the event to a close, reflecting the Games' blend of sport, unity and music.
Goodrem performed songs including "Born to Try", "Eclipse" and new track "Warrior", before closing with a duet of John Farnham's "You're the Voice" alongside Scottish artist Cammy Barnes; it marked her third Commonwealth Games appearance after Melbourne 2006 and Gold Coast 2018. Australia topped the medal table with 70 golds, ahead of England (29) and Canada (19), while hosts Scotland finished fifth with 13 golds. Simple Minds performed 1980s hits "Alive and Kicking" and "Don't You (Forget About Me)" ahead of their V Tour, launching in Australia and New Zealand in February 2027, while Goodrem is preparing her new album Pure, out 6 November.
