The Grand Tour co-creator Andy Wilman has confirmed that original hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will make cameo appearances in the show's new season, alongside the incoming presenting trio. Wilman revealed the plan in an interview with 3Bs radio at the Buckingham Literary Festival, saying the original hosts were "in the shows doing cameos" as they look to "pass the baton on" to their successors. This gives the new line-up a symbolic show of support from the founding trio, distinguishing the handover from the BBC's more turbulent post-Clarkson reshuffle of Top Gear.

The Grand Tour's new hosts, announced in February, are motoring YouTubers Thomas Holland and James Engelsman of Throttle House, alongside social media personality Francis Bourgeois. The new six-episode season is set to launch on Prime Video this September. Wilman co-created The Grand Tour with Clarkson, Hammond and May after the trio left the BBC following Clarkson's sacking from Top Gear, a show he and Wilman had earlier revived in 2002; by contrast, Top Gear cycled through eight different hosts between 2016 and its shelving in 2023.
