Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl provided financial support for rehabilitation treatment to Corrosion Of Conformity drummer Reed Mullin during the period leading up to Mullin's death at age 53. The disclosure emerged through an interview with band member Pepper Keenan on a podcast, who credited Grohl with attempting to help Mullin through his health and personal struggles. Keenan characterised the gesture as a meaningful example of one musician supporting another in crisis.

The two had previously worked together as members of the 2014 supergroup Teenage Time Killers, whose debut album was recorded at Grohl's private studio. Reflecting on Mullin's drumming legacy, Keenan highlighted his significance in developing crossover metal as a genre and suggested the drummer might have made further artistic contributions had he successfully addressed his underlying difficulties.
