Derry City have parted company with manager Tiernan Lynch by mutual consent following a run of poor results, the club confirmed. Lynch, 50, had been in charge for less than two years after joining from Larne, and his departure comes as the Candystripes have struggled to build on last season's second-place finish in the Premier Division.

Derry currently sit sixth in the table having won just one of their last seven matches, and also exited the Uefa Conference League at the second qualifying round despite off-season signings such as James McClean, who publicly voiced concerns about issues at the club. Lynch had signed a three-year deal in November 2024 after winning back-to-back Irish Premiership titles with Larne. Mark Connolly will take over as interim manager, with his first game in charge against Sligo on Friday, 7 August.
