BELPHEGOR Completes Work On 13th Studio Album, Set For Release In 2027

Blabbermouth · 4 hours ago

Austrian black death metal band Belphegor has finished recording its 13th studio album, due for release in the first quarter of 2027 through Reigning Phoenix Music. The announcement continues the band's three-decade career, and fans are being pointed towards two singles already released ahead of the album, alongside a reflection on the band's history and the symbolic weight the group attaches to reaching a "thirteenth" record.

Formed in 1993 by vocalist and guitarist Helmuth Lehner, Belphegor has built a reputation for brutal, ritualistic black death metal across releases including "The Last Supper" (1995) and their most recent album, "The Devils" (2022), which earned them the 2023 Amadeus Austrian Music Award. The two singles previewing the new record are "Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus" (August 2025) and "Scarlet Beast – Leviathan" (February 2026), with the band framing the number 13 as symbolically significant to the album's themes.
