Marvel's Thor mythology has taken a new turn following the events of *Immortal Thor*, in which writer Al Ewing erased the God of Thunder from existence and reintroduced him as the mortal Sigurd Jarlson, largely unrecognised within the Marvel Universe. Now, in *Queen in Black* #2, one of Asgard's most powerful figures has identified Sigurd as Thor's successor and turned her attention directly towards him, marking a significant development in this ongoing storyline.

Since the conclusion of *Immortal Thor*, few characters have grasped Sigurd's true connection to Thor's legacy, with Beta Ray Bill among the rare exceptions who still remembers the original hero. The new issue changes that by having a major Asgardian power explicitly single out Sigurd, setting up a confrontation that could reshape how the character's future in the Marvel Universe unfolds.
