This tiny new charging pad is perfect for my nightstand
Accessory maker Twelve South has released a smaller version of its Valet charging station, addressing complaints that the original $180 model was too large for compact bedside tables. The new $130 version cuts the tray's depth from 7.5 to 4.25 inches while retaining the same leather-wrapped design, catering to buyers who want a stylish, single-purpose device for charging a phone and storing everyday items such as watches, rings and earbuds overnight.
Both versions feature Nappa leather trays with interchangeable frames, a wireless charging base with an LED indicator light, and a USB-C port for additional devices, though the smaller model boosts wireless charging speed from 15W to 25W using the Qi2 standard with magnetic alignment. Total combined output is capped at 35W, and neither version offers built-in wireless charging for Apple Watches, requiring a cable plugged into the USB-C port instead. A cable-routing system on the base lets users orient the charger in any direction while keeping the power cable neatly tucked away.
