Arsenal hopes dashed after Vinícius Júnior extends Real Madrid contract to 2032
Vinícius Júnior has signed a new six-year contract with Real Madrid, running until 30 June 2032, ending months of speculation about his future and dashing Arsenal's hopes of signing the Brazil forward. The Premier League champions had shown interest after a difficult 2025-26 season for Real, who finished without a trophy and endured early uncertainty following José Mourinho's arrival as manager, but Vinícius has instead committed long-term to the Spanish club.
Real Madrid confirmed the extension in a club statement, noting that since joining from Flamengo in July 2018 at age 18, Vinícius has made 375 appearances, scored 128 goals and won 14 titles, including two Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles. The 26-year-old, who also endured a shock last-16 World Cup exit with Brazil, said on Instagram that "eight years at the Bernabéu are too few… six more years, and for ever." His new deal follows a summer of significant squad reinforcement at Real, with the arrivals of Yan Diomande, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries.
