Woke University of Michigan to HIDE grades from students and scrub them from transcripts due to a ‘mental health crisis’

Daily Mail · 3 hours ago

The University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science and the Arts plans to introduce a pass/no credit grading pilot for first-semester undergraduates from autumn 2027. The college says the change is intended to help new students adjust to university demands and support wellbeing amid concerns about mental health among college-aged people.

Students would still receive grades and feedback on individual assignments and classes, but their final letter grades for that first term would not appear on external transcripts. Those grades would also be excluded from GPA calculations; the policy would apply within LSA, the university’s largest college, rather than across all 19 colleges.

  • LSA plans pass/no credit first semesters from autumn 2027.
  • Assignment feedback and grades would still be provided.
  • First-term grades would not affect transcripts or GPA.
