This superyacht makes a splash! £220m mega-vessel with giant swimming pool on board for its ‘keen swimmer’ owner moors up off South Coast
A £220 million superyacht named Milky Way, featuring an unusually large onboard swimming pool, has moored in Poole Harbour on England's south coast. Built for a mystery billionaire owner said to be a "keen swimmer," the 300ft vessel was undergoing sea trials after being launched in the Netherlands in June, and its arrival drew significant attention in the Dorset harbour.
The 2,600-tonne yacht, registered in the Cayman Islands, was constructed by Dutch shipbuilder Feadship, with exterior design by its Studio De Voogt and interior design by British firm RWD. It includes a 55ft pool on the main deck. Poole Harbour has increasingly become a magnet for superyachts thanks to its deep-water berths, security and proximity to London, recently earning a five-gold-anchor marina accreditation; it previously hosted the 239ft Nautilus, owned by Patek Philippe chief Thierry Stern, which charters from £646,000 a week.
