Henry Rollins has announced a coming-of-age memoir, Bait Dog Boy, examining his difficult childhood in Washington, D.C., and his early connection to punk. The book is significant as it marks his first detailed account of experiences he has largely avoided discussing, including neglect and abuse, and presents punk as a crucial escape route.

The memoir will be published on 2 March 2027 by Random House in the US and Little, Brown in the UK. It covers Rollins moving between indifferent parents, encounters with abusive adults, and his meeting with Ian MacKaye, later of Minor Threat; Rollins previously published Get In The Van in 1994, whose spoken-word version won a Grammy.
