Zinnie Harris’s *Supposing:* is reviewed as a sparse but forceful modern Greek tragedy, in which Sally, a secular wife and mother, becomes convinced she has been cursed and may be seeing the future. Set in a nearly empty Traverse Theatre stage marked by a single white circle, the production centres on Nicole Cooper and Richard Conlon as Sally and her husband Richard. Sally hears a 17-strong Greek chorus, invokes figures including Medea and Clytemnestra, and foresees a racist neighbour, a refugee and rightwing protests; references to pregnancies and miscarriages add uncertainty about the future. The show runs in Edinburgh until 30 August.
