Peyton and Chrissy met in college and bonded over their shared love of video games, with Peyton introducing her to titles ranging from Stardew Valley to Animal Crossing. When Peyton passed away unexpectedly while still young, Chrissy struggled to process her grief and largely avoided his gaming devices for three years. His Nintendo Switch contained an incomplete save file from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a game they had approached as a collaborative effort despite its single-player design.

Now 25 and in law school, Chrissy relocated across the country and discovered a new way to process her loss: completing Peyton's game save file. Beginning in spring 2026, she started her own playthrough of Tears of the Kingdom, determined to experience the same puzzles and exploration that he had encountered. Through the game, she hopes to feel closer to him and to witness the world through his eyes, effectively finishing what remained incomplete in their shared life.
