Costume designer Marylin Fitoussi has overhauled Emily's wardrobe for Season 5 of Netflix's "Emily in Paris", taking cues from Lily Collins' new sharp bob haircut. The fresh crop signalled a new chapter for the character, giving Fitoussi licence to push Emily's style in a bolder, more confident direction, moving away from purely business-focused looks towards ones reflecting Emily's personal growth, with heavier use of Italian-inspired silhouettes, bold prints, block colours and black.

A key piece was a striking red Barbara Bui blazer Emily wears at the season's close, which Fitoussi describes as a "manifesto" symbolising confidence and independence, and a deliberate claiming of the colour red, previously associated with mentor Sylvie Grateau. Fitoussi also earned an Emmy nomination for her work on Episode 10, set at a Venice Fashion Week sequence conceived by creator Darren Star, blending inspiration from the Palio di Siena horse race and Polo Ralph Lauren; she had just three weeks to design the collection, drawing on patchwork techniques and a "Singin' in the Rain" tribute to French, American and Italian culture.
