‘Arrival’ Meets ‘Alien’ in Overlooked Sci-Fi Stunner Officially Streaming on Hulu
The 2023 sci-fi thriller "No One Will Save You" is officially streaming on Hulu, drawing renewed attention as a blend of Ridley Scott's "Alien" and Denis Villeneuve's "Arrival". Directed by Brian Duffield and starring Kaitlyn Dever, the film follows a young woman ostracised by her community after a past incident, whose isolated life is upended by an alien visitation. It stands out for its almost entirely wordless storytelling, a bold departure for Duffield, who is known for his skill as a dialogue writer.
Duffield previously made his directorial debut with the teen horror film "Spontaneous", which holds a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, before making this follow-up feature. "No One Will Save You" now holds a "Certified Fresh" 82% rating on the review aggregator, with critics praising it as a home-invasion thriller with an extraterrestrial twist and highlighting Dever's ability to command the screen with minimal dialogue. Its Hulu availability comes as Duffield's latest film, the whale-survival horror "Whalefall" starring Austin Abrams, generates fresh anticipation for the director's work.
