A diversity representative who was drunk at the wheel of her Range Rover has avoided a prison sentence despite dragging a police officer along a road during a traffic stop, leaving him permanently disabled. The officer, an Afghan war veteran, suffered life-changing injuries after being caught in the vehicle as it moved off, and the case has drawn criticism over the leniency of the sentence given the severity of the harm caused.

The court proceedings centred on the moment the officer attempted to stop the woman's vehicle, only for her to drive off with him still attached to the car, dragging him along the road and causing crippling injuries.
