Dawson explained that she had prepared behind-the-scenes photos to post on social media, including one of her grandson in Spider-Man merchandise, only to be told after filming that her scene would not make the final cut. She spoke of her personal connection to the character, noting her comic-artist uncle first learned to draw Spider-Man, and highlighted a coincidental detail in recent comics placing a young Spider-Man at her old elementary school.
