The feature spans several genres, including soul, funk, gospel and country, reflecting the eclectic mix of music that topped or nearly topped the Billboard Hot 100 during that period.

The four songs featured are Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On", which hit No. 1 on the Hot 100; Kris Kristofferson's country-gospel crossover "Why Me", which reached No. 16 on the Hot 100 and No. 1 on the country chart; Dawn featuring Tony Orlando's "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree", a global No. 1 hit in the US, UK and Canada; and Billy Preston's "Will It Go Round In Circles", which also topped the Hot 100 and the Canadian charts.
