Marvel Studios has made progress on its forthcoming X-Men film, assembling a creative team and confirming several cast members to anchor the project. Director Jake Schreier, who recently completed Thunderbolts*, will helm the film, whilst television writers Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are developing the screenplay. The cast roster includes Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, and Kit Connor in the lead role of Cyclops, alongside returning performers Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen reprising their long-established roles as Professor X and Magneto in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

The film remains in early development with no production timeline or theatrical release window currently set. Multiple significant character roles, including Wolverine and other core X-Men positions, have yet to be filled as Marvel continues the casting process. The project emerges after Disney's 2019 acquisition of Twentieth Century Fox and follows the studio's strategy of integrating the X-Men characters into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe through ensemble appearances before launching their dedicated narrative.
