Power Snatch, the band formed by Hayley Williams and producer Daniel James, has released its second surprise EP, EP2, on Bandcamp. The four-track follow-up arrives six months after EP1 and extends Williams’ recent run of releases and live activity outside her better-known work.

EP2 contains “Machete”, “New Legs”, “Born Dead” and “Hell Is a Highway”, with Rolling Stone describing its sound as drawing on Nineties alternative rock. The duo promoted “Machete” using a clip from the 1973 animated film Fantastic Planet; Williams will begin a North and Latin American solo tour on 3 September, ending in San Juan on 27 November.

Hayley Williams is best known as the singer of the American rock band Paramore, which formed in the early 2000s and became widely known for songs including “Misery Business” and “Still Into You”. She has also released music under her own name, alongside continuing to work with other musicians.

Power Snatch is a project with producer and songwriter Daniel James, who has worked with a range of pop and alternative artists. Their music is being released through Bandcamp, an online platform that lets artists sell recordings directly to listeners.

An EP is a short release, usually containing fewer songs than an album. The project’s sound has been linked to alternative rock of the 1990s, a broad style associated with guitar-based music that often sat outside mainstream pop.
