The rallies, organised by the National Union of Students and the Socialist Alternative-linked "High School Anti Capitalists" group, took place across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Wollongong and Newcastle, drawing largely school and university-age crowds. Around 300 people attended the Sydney event, where Greens senator Mehreen Faruqi had encouraged students online to leave class to take part, and demonstrators accused Hanson and One Nation of racist, sexist and anti-worker politics. Organisers said turnout, particularly in Sydney, exceeded their expectations after the campaign spread widely on social media.
