Jones turns to geese to inspire Japan
Eddie Jones has used videos of geese flying in formation to illustrate support play to Japan’s rugby team before their second Test against Australia. The approach is intended to help players follow and react to the ball-carrier more effectively after Japan’s support play fell short in a narrow defeat last weekend.
Japan lost 35-32 to Australia in Osaka despite the Wallabies receiving an early red card for Miles Amatosero, giving new Australia coach Les Kiss his first win. Jones has made five changes for Saturday’s return match in Townsville, including university student Yoshitaka Yazaki on the wing and Shunsuke Uenobo’s first start at centre.
