Twitch has introduced a setting allowing streamers to stop their channel content being used to improve Amazon’s generative AI models, but it is enabled by default. The change matters because creators must actively opt out to prevent future use of their livestreams, videos, chats and other material across Amazon’s AI operations.

Twitch says training data may include livestreams, video-on-demand, clips, highlights, text, images and chat messages; stream audio could help improve speech-to-text and captioning services across Amazon. A Twitch executive said the default was chosen because “nobody would opt in”, while Amazon had reportedly already used Twitch data for AI training before the new control was introduced. Opting out applies only to future model improvements, does not clearly remove previously used material, and does not protect chat messages posted on other channels that retain the setting.
