Mastodon have released “In The Ruins”, a new track from their forthcoming album Marrow Deep, due on 28 August via Loma Vista. The nearly six-minute song addresses loss and recovery, arriving as the band continue to mourn former member Brent Hinds and drummer Brann Dailor’s mother, while singer and bassist Troy Sanders’ home was damaged by Hurricane Helene.

The album will be Mastodon’s first since Hinds’ recent death and follows earlier singles “Your Ghost Again” and “Snakes For Dinner”, featuring Josh Homme. Marrow Deep also includes contributions from members of Gojira, Clutch, Converge and Lamb Of God, plus Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler; the new song’s animated video follows a disembodied eyeball called Frank.
