HBO has confirmed the release schedule for its new DC Original series "Lanterns", starring Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. The show, created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, follows the pair investigating a dark, Earth-based murder mystery in the American heartland, and marks one of HBO's final major summer premieres.

The series premieres in mid-August in the Sunday 9pm ET/PT slot, airing simultaneously on HBO and HBO Max, with new episodes released weekly rather than as a full-season drop. There are eight episodes in total, with the finale due on 4 October. The cast also includes Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Laura Linney and Nathan Fillion, with Mundy serving as showrunner and James Hawes directing the first two episodes; the series is produced by HBO alongside Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios.
