Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi has become a strong early streaming performer after debuting in full on Disney+ and Hulu on 5 August. Its success matters because it suggests continued audience appetite for standalone, creatively distinct Star Wars stories beyond the franchise’s main narrative.
The eight-episode series premiered first at Anime Expo on 1 July and is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, with writing by Mitsuyasu Sakai. It has a 90% critics’ score from 21 reviews and an 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, while Disney+’s global chart placed it fifth at the time of reporting.
