Hosting provider Namecheap is down after data center cooling failure
Namecheap suffered a widespread outage after cooling systems failed at its Phoenix data centre, leaving many customer websites and services unavailable or delayed. The incident matters because it affected core internet infrastructure, including the company’s own website and tools customers would normally use to seek support.
The disruption was linked to storm damage in Phoenix overnight, which caused elevated temperatures in the PhoenixNAP facility’s server space. Namecheap said its hosting plans, EasyWP, DNS and email services were affected, while chief executive Hillan Klein expected restoration to begin at about 3:00–3:30pm ET as temperatures fell.
