Chad Powers is a comedy series about Russ Holliday, a former American football quarterback whose career was damaged by scandal. He uses prosthetics and a new name to join a struggling college team, the South Georgia Catfish, as the apparently harmless player Chad Powers.
College football is a major part of sport in the United States, with teams competing for a place in the College Football Playoff, the competition that decides the national champion. Russ’s success on the field gives the Catfish a chance to progress, but his disguise means every relationship around the team carries the risk of revealing who he really is.
The show was inspired by a comic segment featuring former NFL quarterback Eli Manning, who went undercover at college football try-outs. Glen Powell plays Russ, while Perry Mattfeld plays Ricky, one of the people closest to the secret.
