Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is undergoing a medical ahead of a move to West Ham United, according to manager Martin O’Neill. The departure would remove a key player before Celtic’s Champions League play-off against LASK, but Engels is keen to take the opportunity to play in England.

Celtic had previously rejected a multi-million-pound Nottingham Forest bid for the 22-year-old in January, when he did not force a move. O’Neill said West Ham wanted Engels available for the season’s opening day, while Celtic are also managing an injury to right-back Alistair Johnston and pursuing further signings, including a possible loan for Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo.
