Sebastian Gibbs is returning to Netflix as Director of Original Series, where he will oversee intellectual property and major franchise programming. The appointment matters because it marks an uncommon return to a streaming employer and reverses a recent pattern of Netflix executives moving to Amazon MGM Studios.

Gibbs starts on 17 August and will report to Netflix scripted-series vice-president Teddy Biaselli, after four years as a senior television development executive at Amazon MGM Studios. He previously spent two and a half years at Netflix before leaving in July 2022, and has worked on series including *Ozark*, *The Diplomat*, *The Outsider*, *The Great* and *Scarpetta* during a 15-year career.
