The forthcoming DC series Lanterns was initially conceived without its heroes wearing the familiar Green Lantern costume, according to one of its stars. The change suggests the production team debated how closely the show should follow the comic-book look, a notable decision for a series intended to introduce Green Lantern to DC Studios’ new screen universe.

The actor said the creators were not initially certain that the suit should appear, though it was ultimately included. Lanterns stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, and has been described as a detective-style story centred on the two Green Lanterns investigating a murder in the American heartland.
