Disney Animation is the studio behind many of Disney’s best-known feature cartoons, including films that combine family adventure with original fantasy worlds. Its new projects are often unveiled at D23, a Disney fan event used to announce upcoming films, television programmes and attractions.

Kieran Culkin is an American actor known for playing Roman Roy in the television drama Succession, a role that brought him major awards attention. He has also appeared in films including A Real Pain, and this project would place him in a leading voice role rather than an on-screen part.

Voice casting is a central part of animated filmmaking, with actors recording dialogue that is later matched to the characters’ movement and expressions. The film’s planned release places it among Disney’s longer-term cinema releases, where projects can take several years to develop and animate.
