Developing story first seen 4 hours ago
A behind-closed-doors teaser for Star Wars: Starfighter was shown at Disney’s D23 event, offering the first reported footage from the forthcoming film. The preview centres on Ryan Gosling’s pilot, Kade Auberon, and suggests the film will combine a new character-driven adventure with large-scale starfighter action, though it has not yet been released publicly.
In the teaser, Kade encounters a young man playing with a decommissioned starfighter said to have once been the fastest ever built. After repairing the ship, Kade flies through alien landscapes, including an ocean planet with skyscraper-sized geysers, while droids fire at the craft and his robot co-pilot assists with take-off. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film is due in cinemas on 28 May 2027.

Star Wars is a long-running science-fiction series set in a fictional galaxy, where pilots, rebels, empires and alien worlds are central to many stories. It includes films, television programmes, books and games, with starfighter battles being one of its familiar features.
Star Wars: Starfighter is a forthcoming film built around a new lead character, Kade Auberon, played by Ryan Gosling. Shawn Levy is directing it, and the project is intended as a separate adventure within the wider Star Wars setting rather than a direct continuation of an earlier film.
