Blade Runner 2049 has entered Paramount+’s top 10 in the US, according to Collider, shortly before the planned November debut of Prime Video series Blade Runner 2099. The renewed attention highlights how the 2017 sequel has developed a streaming audience despite its comparatively modest theatrical performance, and coincides with Ridley Scott’s return to science fiction as a director.

Scott produced Blade Runner 2049, which Denis Villeneuve directed and which starred Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas. The film grossed about $277 million worldwide against a reported $150 million budget; Scott will produce Blade Runner 2099 and the second series of Alien: Earth, while his new film The Dog Stars is due in cinemas on 28 August.
