Actor Jonathan Daviss is preparing to say goodbye to his breakout role in Netflix's "Outer Banks", which ends with its fifth and final season, while gearing up for a very different next project: playing rapper Snoop Dogg in an upcoming biopic directed by Craig Brewer. Daviss, 26, has played Pope Heyward since the show premiered in 2020, and the series' unexpected success turned him and his co-stars into stars almost overnight. He reflects on the bittersweet nature of wrapping a project that shaped his adult life and the close friendships forged with cast and crew over its run.

The final season of "Outer Banks" is released on 20 August, sending the treasure-hunting "Pogues" on their last adventure. Daviss says landing the Snoop Dogg role felt like a long shot, but the rapper personally invited him to spend time together between auditions and saw something in him. Filming on the biopic is set to begin soon, and Daviss believes it will reveal little-known aspects of Snoop Dogg's life story to audiences.
