Watch Fontaines D.C. perform new single ‘Marianne’ from last ever BBC Maida Vale session as the band share how late manager Trevor Dietz saved the song
Fontaines D.C. have released new single 'Marianne' alongside the announcement of their next album, 'Dopamine Chamber', while revealing footage of the track's performance from what was the final ever BBC Maida Vale session. The release marks the band's first material since the death of their manager, Trevor Dietz, who they credit with rescuing the song after it had initially been cut from the record during the writing process.
The cinematic single was officially released on 18 August 2026, with 'Dopamine Chamber' produced by James Ford and due out on 16 October via XL Recordings, following on from 2024's Mercury-nominated 'Romance'. Bassist Conor Deegan explained on Instagram that 'Marianne' had been left off a shortlist of 40 songs until Dietz insisted they were "absolute lunatics" for dropping it, prompting them to reinstate it as the lead single; the band recorded the Maida Vale session on 31 July, though the 'Marianne' performance was not broadcast on BBC 6 Music and has now been shared on YouTube alongside renditions of 'Roy's Tune' and 'It's Amazing To Be Young'.
