Peacock is raising subscription prices for the fourth time in as many years
Peacock is increasing its subscription prices for the fourth time in four years, despite NBCUniversal recently reporting the streaming service's first-ever profitable quarter. The standard ad-supported plan and the bare-bones Peacock Select tier will both cost more, while the ad-free Premium Plus plan also sees a rise, continuing a broader trend of streaming platforms steadily pushing up prices even as some become profitable.
The ad-based plan rises from $10 to $13 per month, Premium Plus increases from $17 to $20, and Peacock Select goes from $8 to $9. The changes take effect immediately for new and returning customers, while existing subscribers have until 17 September before the new prices apply. Peacock's appeal rests less on scripted originals, such as its Office spin-off and Twisted Metal, and more on reality programming including Bravo shows, The Traitors and various Love Island spin-offs. Peacock joins Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV, Paramount+ and YouTube Premium, all of which have raised prices in recent years.
