Fulvio Lucisano, Italian Producer of ‘Planet of the Vampires’ and ‘What Have You Done to Solange?,’ Dies at 98
Fulvio Lucisano, the Italian film producer behind cult classics such as "Planet of the Vampires" and "What Have You Done to Solange?," has died at the age of 98. His daughter Paola confirmed the news in a statement to Italian news agency ANSA on Tuesday. Lucisano was a major figure in Italian cinema for seven decades, known for close ties with Hollywood B-movie producer Roger Corman and for spanning genres from horror and sci-fi to soft porn and prestige arthouse cinema.
Over his career, Lucisano produced more than 150 films, including Mario Bava's "Planet of the Vampires," Franco Zeffirelli's "The Young Toscanini" starring Elizabeth Taylor, and "War, Italian Style" with Buster Keaton. Born in Rome, he began in production in 1949 and founded Italian Intl. Film (IIF) in 1958, which distributed American Intl. Pictures' films in Italy and led to a long collaboration with Corman. He also worked with acclaimed directors including Liliana Cavani, Marco Ferreri, Lina Wertmuller and Carlos Saura.
