Sons Of KISS’s PAUL STANLEY And GENE SIMMONS Defend Decision To Call Their Collaborative Project STANLEY SIMMONS

Blabbermouth · 5 hours ago

Evan Stanley and Nick Simmons, sons of KISS members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, have defended naming their new musical collaboration Stanley Simmons, rejecting suggestions that the choice trades on their fathers' fame. Speaking on SoundExchange's "Sound Advice" series, the pair said the name emerged organically from the speed with which the project came together, and pointed to precedents such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, Hall & Oates and Coverdale-Page as evidence that using surnames is a long-standing musical tradition rather than a gimmick.

Evan Stanley said the duo wrote their first song, "Temporary Love", on 3 February 2024 and had formed as a band within days, insisting there was never any intention to lean on their family names for attention. Nick Simmons added that he welcomes listeners judging the music on its own merits and would accept harsh criticism just as readily as praise, comparing lasting industry credibility to figures such as Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie who succeeded through their work rather than their connections. Stanley Simmons' debut album, "Dancing While The World Is Ending", is due for release on 28 August, following six singles already issued from the 12-track record.
