Richard Armitage Officially Trades Harlan Coben For a New 6-Part Crime Series

Collider · 3 hours ago

Actor Richard Armitage is set to headline a new crime drama for ITV, marking a shift in his television work. After years of appearing in adaptations of Harlan Coben novels, including a string of successful Netflix series, Armitage will now lead the British police procedural Winter, based on the acclaimed French crime series Balthazar.

In the series, Armitage plays forensic pathologist Dr Ethan Winter, partnered with detective DI Lauren Bell (Annabel Scholey) to investigate crimes across Bristol. The six-episode series combines episodic crime-of-the-week storytelling with a continuous narrative thread centred on an unsolved murder case that connects to the main character's personal history. Each episode delivers its own self-contained mystery whilst advancing the serialised plot.

  • Richard Armitage stars in new ITV crime series Winter, departing from previous Harlan Coben collaborations
  • The six-part procedural pairs him with detective Annabel Scholey solving cases in Bristol with both episodic and serialised elements
