The Hollywood Reporter · 3 hours ago

Paul M. Pollard, a veteran camera operator whose credits included "Bound for Glory", "Heaven's Gate", "Northern Exposure" and "The Larry Sanders Show", has died aged 84. He passed away on 1 August of heart-related issues at Southern California Hospital in Culver City, his daughter Georgia Pollard confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pollard, the son of a 20th Century Fox special effects man, worked as a camera technician for cinematographer Haskell Wexler on the Oscar-winning "Bound for Glory" (1976) and later on "Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip" (1982), as well as for Vilmos Zsigmond on the famously troubled "Heaven's Gate" (1980). Born in Los Angeles in 1942, he rose through the industry from work as a greensman and cable man to assistant camera roles on films including "True Grit" and Martin Scorsese's "Boxcar Bertha", before building a career spanning credits such as "Air America", "L.A. Story" and numerous television series. He is survived by his son, daughter, two grandchildren, a sister and three nephews.
