The Israeli startup ForSight Robotics has announced that its JASPER Robotic Surgical Platform has been used to carry out 26 cataract surgeries on human patients, with each procedure completed robotically and no need for the surgeon to switch to manual operation. The development marks a step towards greater automation in eye surgery, though the company stresses that surgeons remain in control throughout, directing the robot rather than being replaced by it.

Cataract surgery is typically a routine, same-day procedure, and JASPER is designed to assist within that existing workflow rather than overhaul it. ForSight Robotics has not disclosed further clinical trial details, such as patient outcomes or a timeline for wider approval and rollout, but the results are being presented as an early demonstration of the platform's reliability across multiple procedures.
